Availability of FTA Grant Funds for a University
Frequently Asked Questions
We here at the University of Alaska Fairbanks currently run a fixed route bus system with 4 routes on campus, as well as an on-call shuttle which transports passengers from certain off-campus locations to on-campus, and is also used for the on-call transportation of ADA passengers to on-campus locations. The purchase of the buses and the operation of this system has always used University funding, transportation, and parking fees, and never FTA funding. However, we are at a point that we must pursue other options. We would like to know if we would be eligible to apply for, or receive any FTA funding to help support out current transportation system. The Fairbanks North Star Borough's city bus system also operates with limited stops and service on campus. Is part of the funding that they receive also available to the University of Alaska Fairbanks? If not, do you have any suggestions for other federal funding?
We would suggest that you contact the FTA Regional office in Seattle with your question:
