Business Opportunities in Transit

Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I send an ATM proposal for ATM placements at transit stations that have high-traffic and a need for cash?

You will need to contact the transit agencies that operate the stations that you are interested in. One approach would be to go through the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) website.

There you will see a tab entitled, "Finding Public Transportation in Your Area." That will give you access to all transit agencies in the U.S. The data is organized by State. (Posted: September, 2010)

Atlas Railroad Construction LLC is a 57 - year full turn railroad Construction Company that would like to bid on FTA projects. Is there a section on your website for the various regions that show these opportunities?

To my knowledge, there is no FTA website that lists opportunities for the 10 Regions. I am hard pressed to know that there exists such a website at the Region. Each grantee is charged with issuing their own solicitations and posting their requirements on their own websites. The only places that may provide a service of this nature are the American Public Transit Association (APTA) or the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials (COMTO). I am interested to learn how one becomes a listed supplier/vendor, thus able to gain knowledge of upcoming projects/procurements.

This is in response to your helpline question concerning sales opportunities. The FTA does not procure equipment - it provides grant funds to transit agencies and those agencies in turn procure the equipment they need for their transit operations. You might want to contact the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) as they represent virtually all of the transit agencies in the U.S. That organization may be able to suggest how you can most effectively market your products to their member agencies. I work for a company that provides physical security services and I want to make sure that I am monitoring the appropriate outlets for any potential FTA procurement for that type of service. To what websites does the FTA post its procurement opportunities?

FTA posts most of its requirements to FBO.GOV. (Posted: August, 2013)
