Freedom of Information Act
Frequently Asked Questions
We are currently re-bidding our Security Services contract for our Park and Ride facilities. I have had several requests for the name of the current vendor and their current rate. I have disclosed the name of the vendor, but do not feel like it would be fair to disclose their rate as they intend to submit a proposal. The requesting bidders have cited the Freedom of Information Act. Your thoughts please.
The Freedom of Information Act, 5 U.S.C. § 552, governs the release of Federal records by Federal agencies. The release of records held by a transit agency is controlled by state law. You should contact your agency counsel for advice on what information must be released under your state’s law. (Revised: August 12, 2009)
