Overview of Environmental Review Process for Major Project EIS

Document

The major project EIS process chart is organized to best meet the two-year One Federal Decision timeframe from Notice of Intent to Record of Decision and 90 days for authorization. The timing of the concurrence points within the NEPA process are suggested to help best meet the two-year timeframe and prevent delays to the project schedule by ensuring agencies address key concerns early in the environmental review process.

Refer to the Section 139 Environmental Review Process: Efficient Environmental Reviews for Project Decisionmaking and One Federal Decision Interim Final Guidance for information concerning the statutory framework at 23 U.S.C. 139.
