FTA prepared this guide to help your transit agency develop a Safety Management Policy Statement to support implementation of your Safety Management System (SMS) and to help you comply with the Public Transportation Agency Safety Plan (PTASP) regulation (49 C.F.R. Part 673). This document discusses Part 673 requirements for the policy statement, provides considerations for policy statement development and provides examples.
