8/23/2017. Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO): Solicitation of Project Proposals for the Passenger Ferry Grant Program (Ferry program). The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) announces the availability of $30 million of Fiscal Year 2017 Section 5307 Urbanized Area Formula Program funds to assist financing capital projects to support existing passenger ferry service, establish new ferry service, and to repair and modernize ferry boats, terminals, and related facilities and equipment. Synopses and full announcement are posted on Grants.gov site as opportunity FTA-2017-005-TPM-PF. Proposals must be submitted electronically through Grants.gov website by 11:59 PM Eastern Time on 10/23/2017.
Summary:
The main purpose of the Ferry program is to improve the condition and quality of existing passenger ferry services, support the establishment of new passenger ferry services, and to repair and modernize ferry boats, terminals, and related facilities and equipment.
Eligible Applicants:
Eligible applicants under this program must be designated recipients or eligible direct recipients of Section 5307 funds, which include public entities engaged in providing a public transportation passenger ferry service in urbanized areas.

Dates:
An applicant must submit a proposal electronically by 11:59 PM Eastern Time on 10/23/2017. Any agency intending to apply should initiate the process of registering on the GRANTS.GOV site immediately to ensure completion of registration before the submission deadline.
