Central Broward Transit - Phase I Capital Investment Program Project Profiles: FY 2017
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), in coordination with Broward County Transit, the Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization, the South Florida Regional Transportation Authority, the City of Fort Lauderdale and the Downtown Development Authority, proposes to implement a 5.0-mile modern streetcar line from downtown Fort Lauderdale to the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention Center/Port Everglades area and the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. The project includes stations, vehicles and traffic signal priority. The project would be integrated into the WAVE streetcar project that is currently in Small Starts Project Development. Local officials have not identified a capital cost estimate or the amount of funds that will be sought from the New Starts program.
