Proposals must be submitted electronically through the Grants.gov web site by January 25, 2011.

Summary

FTA is seeking research proposals to study the implementation of Positive Train Control (PTC) systems on a commuter rail or regional rail line. The project shall study the current state of PTC technology and the decision-making process by the US rail transit authorities for implementing a PTC system in the commuter rail and regional rail operating environment. The research will include the evaluation of current PTC technology, the documentation of implementation issues, and the needs for further research in Rail Transit Signal and Control Systems (RTSCS) for commuter and regional rail operations.

Dates

An applicant must submit a proposal electronically to http://www.grants.gov/ by January 25, 2011 for consideration. All potential applicants are advised to begin the Grants.gov registration process immediately, if they have not previously submitted Federal assistance applications through Grants.gov, in order to be able to meet the deadline. FTA expects to award funds to successful contractor(s) through a cooperative agreement by February 25, 2011.
