This fact sheet describes Rural Area Formula Program Grants under 49 U.S.C. Chapter 53, Section 5311, as reauthorized under the FAST Act. The Formula Grants for Rural Areas program provides capital, planning, and operating assistance to states and federally recognized Indian tribes to support public transportation in rural areas with populations less than 50,000.
