ARRA Fact Sheet: Denver Union Station
Project: Denver Union Station
City: Denver
State: Colorado
ARRA Award Amount: $ 28.4 Million
Program: Urbanized Area Formula and FHWA Flex Funds
Description:
The Denver Regional Transit District is using a portion of its ARRA funds to fund the Denver Union Station project. The Denver Union Station site will be redeveloped as a multimodal transportation center that will accommodate significant additional passenger rail service (FasTracks) now under construction. The redeveloped Denver Union Station will also continue to house the national passenger rail services provided by Amtrak.
The transportation hub will promote economic vitality by providing better access to housing, jobs, and commerce, and by improving connections for business, education, recreation, tourism, and services. Connections within the Transit District will also help people who are young, elderly, or disabled access transportation more independently.
