ASP Checklist for Bus Transit Agencies Serving Large Urbanized Areas
FTA is providing version 4 of this Agency Safety Plan (ASP) checklist for large urbanized area providers to assist bus transit agencies with developing or updating their ASPs in accordance with the Public Transportation Agency Safety Plans (PTASP) final rule at 49 CFR part 673, published on April 11, 2024. Use of this checklist is voluntary.
This checklist applies to:
- Bus transit agencies that are large urbanized area providers;
- Small public transportation providers that serve large urbanized areas; and
- States developing ASPs for small public transportation providers that serve large urbanized areas.
If your bus agency serves an urbanized area with a population of less than 200,000 (as determined by the most recent decennial Census) and does not also provide service in a large urbanized area, please see the ASP Checklist for Bus Transit Agencies Serving Small Urbanized Areas.
This checklist is a fillable PDF. It also includes columns for ASP page numbers and comments. If you would like an editable Microsoft Word version, please contact the PTASP Technical Assistance Center at PTASP-TAC@dot.gov.
