ASP Checklist for Bus Transit Agencies Serving Small Urbanized Areas

FTA is providing version 4 of this Agency Safety Plan (ASP) checklist to assist bus transit agencies that provide service in a small urbanized area (an urbanized area with a population of less than 200,000) and that do not provide service in a large urbanized area. These agencies may be small public transportation providers or large bus transit providers. This checklist is designed to help agencies develop or update their ASPs in accordance with the Public Transportation Agency Safety Plans (PTASP) final rule at 49 CFR part 673, published on April 11, 2024. Use of this checklist is voluntary.

If your bus agency serves a large urbanized area (an urban area with a population of 200,000 or more as determined by the most recent decennial Census), please see the ASP Checklist for Bus Transit Agencies Serving Large Urbanized Areas.

This checklist is a fillable PDF. It also includes columns for ASP page numbers and comments. If you would like an editable Microsoft Word version, please contact the PTASP Technical Assistance Center at PTASP-TAC@dot.gov.
