This report provides information on FY 2017 active research projects funded by the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) authorized in Federal public transportation law (49 U.S.C. § 5312). Projects that received FTA assistance in FY 2017 totaled $159 million. FTA focused eligible projects in three strategic priority areas: Safety, Infrastructure, and Mobility Innovation. Projects in these areas promoted public transportation innovation to improve operations, infrastructure, and the traveler’s experience.
