The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LACMTA) is constructing a 3.92-mile, double track heavy rail transit line below Wilshire Boulevard in the cities of Los Angeles and Beverly Hills with three new underground stations, a new maintenance-of-way building, and a non-revenue vehicle maintenance facility at the existing Metro Division 20 Yard. The project includes the purchase of 34 new heavy rail vehicles that are compatible with the existing heavy rail system.
