Details: December 3, 2024. Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO): Solicitation of Project Proposals for the Technology Transfer (T2) Program. The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) announces the availability of $5 million in FTA Public Transportation Innovation Program (49 U.S.C. § 5312) funding for a cooperative agreement to promote the deployment of successful transit innovation research findings. The overarching goal of this program is to highlight promising innovation research projects that will improve public transportation and enable transit agencies to implement these results in their operations. The NOFO will also help commercialize innovations to public transportation. Synopses and a full announcement are posted on Grants.gov as opportunity FTA-2025-002-TRI. Proposals must be submitted electronically through Grants.gov website by 11:59 PM Eastern Time on February 11, 2025.

Summary: FTA announces the opportunity to apply for funding to establish a Technology Transfer (T2) Program under 49 U.S.C. § 5312(e)(2) to promote the deployment of successful research findings. The Technology Transfer (T2) Program goals are to:
- Develop processes, systems, and resources to support the deployment and adoption of FTA’s innovative research results in the public transportation industry.
- Support the commercialization and production of technologies developed in the U.S., in part through FTA-funded research and development.
- Overcome barriers and challenges affecting the adoption of research products in transit agencies.
One cooperative agreement will be competitively awarded. There is no local match or cost sharing requirement for this program.
Eligible Applicants: Departments, agencies, and instrumentalities of the government, including federal laboratories; state and local governmental entities; providers of public transportation; private or non-profit organizations; institutions of higher education; and technical and community colleges.
Link and Instructions for attaching the supplemental form and project overview to the SF-424: All applicants must complete an SF-424 Application for Federal Assistance form and a T2 Supplemental form. The SF-424 application is available at Grants.gov. The Supplemental Form and any supporting documents must be attached to the “Attachments” section of the SF-424.
Dates: Applicants must submit proposals electronically by 11:59 PM Eastern Time on February 11, 2025. Any organization intending to apply should initiate the process of registering on the Grants.gov site immediately to ensure completion of registration before the submission deadline.
