FTA is releasing on a monthly basis the underlying datasets for its NTD Safety & Security (S&S) Time Series files for S&S events occurring in calendar year 2014 and later. Because the time series excludes Major Security Events collected by the NTD for certain services which fall under the safety oversight of the Federal Railroad Administration, FTA is releasing this underlying dataset for these events as well for any interested data user.

These datasets are intended provide a complete and detailed record of all Safety & Security Events reported to the NTD by Full Reporters during this period.

  • In the September 2024 release, FTA improved the text redaction in the Event Description column, so that more information is now available to data users describing each event.

  • In the September 2024 release, FTA is including a new field, Additional Assault Information, which is detail provided by the reporting transit agency regarding Non-Major transit worker assault events.
